This comprehensive 12-hour program is designed for individuals who are eager to embark on a rewarding journey into beekeeping and want to do so in compliance with local regulations. Course Highlights:

1. In-Class Sessions (12 Hours):

   • Bee Biology, Behavior, and Anatomy: Understand the intricacies of bee life, behavior, and the anatomy critical to their survival.
   • Pollination and Ecological Balance: Explore the vital role bees play in pollination and maintaining ecological balance.
   • Equipment and Tools: Gain familiarity with the equipment and tools essential for successful beekeeping.
   • City Bylaws and Regulations: Navigate through city bylaws and regulations governing responsible beekeeping practices. Including provincial bee registration.
   • Disease and Pest Management: Learn to identify common bee diseases and pests, along with effective management strategies.
   • Feeding and Winterizing: Understand the nutritional needs of bees, and acquire skills in winterizing hives for seasonal challenges.

2. Ongoing Hands-On Learning & Support:

   While the October 17–18 course does not include a Field Day, all students will have the opportunity to attend any of our Field Days during the 2027 beekeeping season.

   Continue building your skills through hands-on experiences, hive demonstrations, and seasonal beekeeping events with the Worker & Hive community. Our goal is to support you beyond the classroom and help you feel confident as you begin your beekeeping journey.

3. Refreshments and Lunch:

   • Enjoy a catered lunch and refreshments during the in-class sessions.
   • Network with fellow participants and instructors in a relaxed, social setting.

4. Certificates Provided:

   • Receive a City Bylaw Accredited Certificate upon successful completion of the in class portion of the course.
