Do I need equipment before the course?
No — all necessary equipment is provided. Just bring a notebook, pen, and curiosity. A bee suit or veil is required for the field day — if you have one, please bring it; if not, we have a few you can borrow, and some are also available for purchase in-store.
What is provided for lunch?
We offer a catered light lunch and refreshments, plus coffee, tea, and snacks available throughout the day.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes — all participants receive a City Bylaw Accredited Certificate of Completion upon finishing the in-class sessions.
Is this course beginner friendly?
Absolutely. The course is designed for people with zero prior experience. There's no such thing as a silly question here.
How much does it cost to start beekeeping?
We cover an overview of costs, equipment needs, and hive setup during the course to help you plan your own hive confidently. But we suggest planning to spend approximately $1,200 for one hive in your first year (including this course), and about $700 for each additional hive.

Yes! Our participants receive ongoing in-store support, plus access to free field demonstrations throughout the season, such as mite testing and nuc installation.
