How to Make Lip Balm in 4 Ingredients

Making your own lip balm is surprisingly simple. You’ll need just a few basic ingredients, a double boiler (or a heat-safe bowl and a saucepan), and some small containers for your finished product.

Keep reading for the recipe, which uses only four natural ingredients. It’s perfect for beginners and can be made in under 30 minutes!

By making your own lip balm, you’re treating your lips—and yourself—to something truly nourishing. Plus, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as using a product you crafted with your own hands. Give it a try, and you might just find yourself ditching store-bought balms for good!

Lip Balm

2 Tbsp. coconut oil
2 Tbsp. shea butter or cocoa butter or 1Tbsp. of each

2 Tbsp. beeswax
1/4 Tsp vitamin E oil
20 Drops of essential oil (or lip balm flavoring**)

Melt all ingredients together in a small double boiler set-up and quickly poor into containers. Let it set. This recipe makes approximately 17 lip balms in tubes. You can substitute the coconut oil for any other carrier oil. One of my personal favorites is sweet almond oil. Experimenting with things like infused oils is also a great way to make a really nourishing lip balm.

**may need less than 20 drops depending on the concentration of the flavoring.**
